4 Website Mistakes That Can Be Fixed In Minutes

Web users are fickle. If there is just one small thing that puts people off, they’ll go elsewhere. They’ve got plenty of options after all. Any good business knows that their website is one of their most important marketing tools but so many of them are making stupid mistakes that are losing them a lot of business. Some of those blunders are big ones that take a lot of time and money to sort out, but some of them are small errors that can be fixed in minutes. If you’ve made any of these mistakes, get them sorted right away.

    Search Box

As soon as I go on a site looking for something, my first instinct is to check the categories on the front page. If I can’t find what I’m looking for there, I’ll go straight to the search box. If I have to scroll up and down for ages trying to find where the search box is, I’m not likely to go back to that site again. If you don’t have a search bar on the site at all, you probably need to get some new web designers in. If you do have one and it’s just tucked out of the way, it only takes a second to move it.

    Not Checking It Regularly

Websites keep a lot of data that is an invaluable tool for marketers. You can see who’s visiting, how long they’re staying for, and which pages are most popular. Looking through all of this data can tell you which bits of the site are working well, and which bits need work. It’ll also tell you if you’ve got a problem with people finding the site in the first place. If you aren’t checking this regularly, you’re just making life difficult for yourself. It only takes a minute to get SEO services to check your website analytics for you and identify any major issues that you’ve got. You’re never going to sort any of the problems if you don’t know that you’ve got them in the first place.

    Spelling Errors

Looking professional is one of the most important things, especially if you’re selling things through your site. If you can’t even write a coherent website then why would anybody trust you to make a good quality product? As soon as somebody notices a spelling mistake on your site, even just one, it makes you look bad. Their view of your company will immediately be tainted and people will think twice about giving you their money. The thing is, there’s no real reason for them to be there in the first place because we have these wonderful things called spell checkers. It’ll take you no time at all to copy and paste your text into a word processor and check the spelling and grammar, but it could save you a lot of embarrassment.

    Too Many Images

Images are very important on a site. If a user is faced with a huge bulk of text it can be a bit intimidating. However, don’t make the mistake of thinking that plastering the page with as many images as possible makes it a good website. It just ends up looking cluttered and if you’re putting them on there for the sake of it then half of them won’t be relevant anyway. Take a few moments to get rid of a few and spread things out a bit.

Taking a few minutes out of your day to fix these simple errors can do no end of good for your website.
